Ok, I'm pissed. Michelle and I volunteered with the understanding that we'd give 4-6 hours of our time - total, in exchange for passes. Now they have up working all three days nearly the entire time we plan to be there. I can't even buy regular passes now and our tickets to LA are not refundable, so it looks as if we will see the sights around Universal City and Burbank. You guys will have to let me know how the convention was.

    •  It was a little unorganized at times, but it was still a very enjoyable experience. I got meet and talk with some very interesting people and it was a nice get-away for us.

The speakers were top-notch. Every speech I attended was interesting, well-done, and memorable. I especially enjoyed Richard Dawkins and Bill Maher, of course, but every speaker was quite good! The food was not what was promised, and that was really annoying. The hotel staff obviously didn't know what vegan meant and tried to feed me cheese. Also, there was really nothing but fruit for me to choose from at breakfast. Hopefully next year these issues will be addressed. I know I wasn't the only vegan there, and I heard more than few others complaining about it. Other than that, the room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The front-desk staff were very helpful, though there was obviously some mis-communication between them and the volunteers/organizers of the convention, which is bound to happen for an event this large. :) Still, it wasn't too annoying, and everything was sorted out with a minimum of fuss.
