I know this is only one day after the Free Thought Convention, but the color is predicted to be at its peak during this week/weekend. Due to other stuff such as vacation time approaching, parties, etc, this was the only date that I could schedule it. I also didn't want to wait until December, because it will be colder and most of the leaves will be gone. Anyway, I hope everyone can come out a take a walk in the woods with us and look at the pretty, pretty trees.

The park has higher attendance on weekends of course, so everyone is welcome to go early and just meet-up at 10:00 in the right-hand parking area at the entrance to the East Trail. Most of the color is on the East Trail by campground "A" or going to the ponds by campground "C". The East Trail is 4.6 miles long, and it has a few steep points along it. I've never been and it is hard to tell from the map, but campground "C" seems to be more accessible than campground "A". Plus, there are picnic areas and restrooms at the trail head.

What the heck is a Left Handed Smoke Shifter?

Previous park visitors also say you should bring a Left Handed Smoke Shifter before going out there. It has something to do with the leaves changing color, the chloroform or whatever. If you don't have a Left Handed Smoke Shifter, then Academy has them.

According to information I read, leashed pets are welcome, but be prepared to bring water for them and baggies to dispose of their poop.
