There is a new documentary movie called "God in the Box" (http://www.godinthebo...) that premiers in San Antonio March 3. It is made by a San Antonio native, and will screen at Temple Beth-El. The film-maker grew up in that synagogue and is the step-brother of the rabbi there.

It is basically a non-scientific sampling of American opinion about the idea of God. I think it will be thought provoking. I may be interested to see how many Americans are atheists in all but name. It probably will not be confrontational, and I should emphasize that anyone who wants to go should do so for ideas and dialogue - not an ideological showdown.

I found out that, along with the screening, there will be a dinner and an inter-faith panel (not including any atheists). The whole event costs $25. One can pay at the door, but advanced registration is requested through the website below (not just RSVPing to the meetup). Dinner starts at 5:45, the movie at 6:50, and the panel at 8:20. http://www.beth-elsa.org/Go...

This is a pretty diverse group with atheists, agnostics, free-thinkers, deists, undecideds, etc. This particular event isn't exactly a meetup as just an announcement for the documentary for those who are interested. Personally, I'm probably won't be going, because I don't have a make-believe friend that I visualize in my mind, but others might find the topic interesting, so this is for them. I just want to make sure that there are events for all tastes.
